Air Quality

Arlington, as a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is right in the middle of an Air Quality Non-Attainment area. What this means is that we have polluted air that is not healthy for those of us who live here.

Below shows our current air quality and tomorrow's air quality forecast. You can click on the link to go to DFW Clean Air, or you can click below that to go to a time-slice animation of today's ozone.

Come Socialize & Learn About Air Issues

with Others Just Like You!

You Can Bring Your Own Food or You Can Arrive Early and Place an Order for Delivery.

AGENDA INCLUDES:

Blue Skies vs. EPA:  Major Clean Air Lawsuit Filed This Month.  You’ve read about it in the papers, heard about it on the radio, and seen it on the TV news.  Now, come hear the rest of the story:

o       A History of Failure – A Long List of Missed, Extended & Ignored Deadlines Have Left DFW’s Air Dirty for Decades.

o       Dropping the Ball – Although EPA is Named in the Suit, TCEQ as well as Elected State and Federal Officials Share Responsibility for Problems!

o       Keeping it Simple – A Brief Explanation of the Lawsuit.

Working Together: Steps Local Governments, Environmental Groups, the State and EPA Are Taking Now to Achieve Clean Air as Quickly as Possible!

o       A discussion of recent actions under the new 8-hour rule including the status of the much anticipated clean air plan and how the state intends to demonstrate progress.

o       Mike Eastland from the North Central Texas Council of Governments will attend the Tarrant County Meetup.  Come Meet Him and Ask Questions. (Local government representatives were also invited to the Dallas County Meetup and will attend if schedules permit).

UPDATE ON CEMENT PLANT PERMITS: TCEQ postpones issues until November (for Holcim) and January (for TXI).  TCEQ needs to quit wasting precious time and resources on these old permit applications.  The focus must be on actions that will clean DFW air – not add more pollution!  Keep writing your elected officials!
